What happens during a bichat resection?
During the procedure, our surgeons make several incisions on the inside of the cheek to locate the buccal extension of the fat pad. After you’ve had the procedure done, your face and mouth will be sore, swollen and tender. Some discomfort and pain may appear during the first days after the surgery, but the medication prescribed by your surgeon will help you control it. Any bruising will be inside the mouth.
You’ll be asked to go into a diet with no acidic foods. You’ll also have to rinse your mouth with an antiseptic several times a day and sleep with your head held high.

When can I resume my normal activities?

Should I consider a specific time of the year to do my procedure?
Depending on the chosen procedure, some recoveries do better on winter, while others do better on the summer time. Ask your surgeon for the option that better suits your case. You should also consider periods of time in which you’ll have time to relax, like the holidays, for example.
