PREOPERATIVE INDICATIONS

  1. Anti-depressants or home remedies. – It is very important to stop taking any kind of anti-depressants such as Zoloft (sertraline and others), homemade remedies are also restricted unless authorized by the Surgeons.
  2.  High blood pressure. If you suffer from high blood pressure or if you are 40 years or older, it is necessary to monitor your blood pressure regularly at least two times a week and inform us of any irregularity so that we can give instructions or important information you may need.
  3.  Smoking. Stop smoking for at least 2 weeks before your surgery, and abstaining from any other substances such as marihuana for at least 4 weeks before the surgery. This will help you in a better recovery and reduce risk of any complication or cancelation of your surgery.

1.-Diet. It is highly recommended to follow a Low sodium diet. Salt free food, avoid red meat and caffeine based drinks.
2. – Alcoholic beverages and supplements. Drinking alcohol raises possibilities that antibiotics are less effective and may show a complication or infection. Avoid garlic based supplements and/or vitamin E, which are anticoagulants and may set your organism for excessive bleeding and forming hematomas.
3. – Medications, decongestants or anti-inflammatory. It is very important to stop taking Aspirin (Anacin, Bufferin, Kids aspirin), ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, Nuprin), Naproxen (Aleve), or any other anti-inflammatory medication, discontinue the use of decongestants such as Sudafed or Actifed. These recommendations are very important to prevent any bleeding problems.

  1. Rest. To have a better recovery and stable vital signs, we suggest to sleep at least 8 hours. Avoid staying up before your surgery day
  2. Clinic Arrival. Avoid driving hours before the surgery, driving may cause stress and other factor that may affect your blood pressure, this may result in delaying, rescheduling or canceling your surgery.
  3. Punctuality. It is very important that you arrive on time (7:00 a.m.) as established by your coordinator. Our priority is to offer the personalized attention you deserve.
  4. Fast. The last meal you may have prior to surgery has to be before 10pm. After that you are not allowed to eat anything, not even water or gum. After the surgery, nurses will provide the allowed liquids or food at the right moment, as well as a diet to follow during your recovery stage.
  5. Valuable objects. Avoid bringing jewelry, IPads, laptops etc. You will not be needing them and CCCI is not responsibility for any objects.
  6. Make up and others. Remember to arrive without make up, perfume or creams.
  7. Accessories. Remember to remove earrings, piercings, hair extensions, acrylic nails and nail polish.
  8. Clothing. We recommend to bring comfortable loose clothing, with buttons or zippers, sports pants or leggings and no lace shoes.
  9. Medications. In case of being under medical treatment, it is important to inform your coordinator, in order to know if you have to consult with your doctor about suspending the use of such treatment or to avoid any allergic reaction or alteration that could cause surgery cancellation.

  1. Towels and plastics. After surgery, patients’ tent to drain, which is completely normal. To prevent any stains in your car we suggest to cover the seat with plastic or towels.
  2. Diet and weight. Do not diets after your surgery. All patients need to be under a balanced and healthy diet during 2 weeks after the surgery. If you start another diet intended to lose weight it may cause heart irregularities, surgical complications or bad scaring.
  3. Illness or sickness. Please let us know if you have any allergies, thyroid problems, hepatitis C, high blood pressure, diabetes or even a cough or flu.
  4. Medication Warning. If you have medical indications for taking anticoagulants on a regular basis intended for: brain damage, heart attacks, severe arthritis, Auricular fibrillation (irregular heartbeats) or due to a heart valve prosthesis, you will need to talk to your doctor if you need to stop the treatment.

Read all the medication labels that you take regularly. A lot of this products contain aspirin or (ASA, acetylsalicylic acid) and must be avoided for 2 weeks before the surgery.
It is necessary that a relative or friend picks you up the day you are release from the clinic to support and help you, since you will not be able to make any efforts or drive.
